I step back in time whenever I visit La Milpa.

On trips back home from D.C. my parents always stopped by Stuckey's.  I remember there was stuff all over the walls that you could buy and take home as gifts. One thing they had was the Pecan Rolls. Do you remember the Pecan Rolls?  I guess todays version of Stuckey's is Crackerbarrel.  But in our Mexican community, you have LA MILPA.

   LA MILPA RICHMOND...

an imageis more than a Mexican Restaurant and Market.  When you become associated with everything that LA MILPA has to offer, you can clearly see a potpourri of Mexican life.  This includes: community involvement, Mexican cultural programs, art, DVD productions of Mexican heritage performed in LA MILPA'S Outdoor Theater, a Mexican market, and real Mexican food.  It only takes one visit to LA MILPA for you would see that the employees are very nice, the food is wonderful, and the atmosphere is culturally rich -  a reflection of the owner's benevolence toward his community and his respect for his heritage.

My name is David James, and I am closely associated with the artistic endeavors at LA MILPA. Specifically, I am extremely interested in the Outdoor Theater aspect which was coined the  'LA MILPA CULTURAL EXPLOSION OUTDOOR THEATER'.  During my first filming, I was exposed to Aztec Ceremonial performances -- a filmer's delight!  We'll journey this website together, and you will soon know that you will want to take a personal journey yourself.

To begin, there is no better way to learn about the Aztec culture than through video.  We will start our journey with a video titled 'The Aztec Civilization.'

NOTE:  Win 7 and Vista users with 64-bit computers cannot see videos using the Firefox browser.  You will have to use Chrome or Internet Explorer.
